THE PRESIDENT SON & I

I slowly packed my things into my travelling bag with tears rolling down my eyes.mummy just left my room now after breaking the sad news to me that the family wld be relocating to delta state in three days time to enable juliet round up her senior waec which wld be ending in two days time.
Am Oyege precious,a 3rd year student of Economics in the University Of Lagos.i came home two days ago after receiving the sad news of my dad’s dismissal at work.he was working as a manager in union bank in one of their branches in asokoro abuja.the reason for his dismissal is still unknown to me and as for mummy,she isnt the working class type although a graduate of mass communication but dad refused her working,he just wants her to take up the job of a full time housewife.
I heard my door crack open,i turned slowly to behold my dad already standing at my door step.i dropped the cloth i was holding,stoppedpacking and sat on my bed sadly with tears running down my cheek.for sure i knew dad has something to say because he never enters my room only on important issues.he walked closer to me wiping my tears with the front and back of his palm
Dad:its okay dear
Me: *snobbing* dad, how did it happen,i have been in this house for the past two days and no one is saying anything,no one wants to tell me what actually happened and if not for juliet i wldnt have known that u lost ur job,dad why is no one talking?
Dad: *sat beside me*its ok my angel,i wld tell u everything but just brighten up first *i wipe my tears again with the back of my left palm and forced out a smile*
Me:am all ears dad
Dad: *takes a deep breath* some months ago,all managers were asked to sumit their profiles which i did then we never heard anything again since the and concentrated on work.four weeks ago,a friend of mine whom is also a manager told me that the names collected was to dismiss some family members in the bank
Me:family members! how dad?
Dad:if u bear same surname with another person one out of the two of u wld have to go.so that was what happened
Me: *surprised*u mean another manager somewhere bears same surname with u?
Dad: *nods his head in the yes manner*
Me: *still not getting it* so how does that concern u?
Dad:they wld be thinking we are related and chose one of us to go
Me:without proper investigation? that was so cruel of them
Dad: *taps my back* lets give God the glory.i can see u are already packing so how did u plan to go about it?
Me: *kind of relief*i wld just pack my things so that it wld be easy,u know i wnt be going with u guys,i wld be going back to school tomorrow because i wld be having text by next tomorrow
Dad: *stood up*that means u wld be coming down to delta on ur next holiday right?
Me: *frown again.i dnt really like the idea of delta* dad why cnt we just stay back here
Dad:no that’s no option to consider at the moment,i have a house in delta,no one stay’s there so why stay back here and waste money on rent
Me:but u can put in tenants in the house and use their rents to always pay ours
Dad:u are an economic student,u shld be able to atlest predict the future.ok what happens when my tenants over there are not able to meet with their rents,we owe too? i still have u and ur junior sister to train in school so no wasting of money now
Me: *gives up because i know my father’s words are always final becoz he thinks before making decissions*ok dad *he walks to the door*dad
Dad: *turns*yes dear
Me:is he aware?
Dad: *try to think out who i meant but couldnt*who?
Me:michael
Dad:no not yet
Me: *frown*why dad?
Dad:i dont want anything that wld disturb his youth service,he wld get to know at the right time
Me: *shows that childish style of hitting both feet on the floor*emhmmm daddy,its not fair
Dad:no its black.i know why u are saying this,is because u both are close.make sure u dnt tell him,i wld do that myself,is that taken?
Me: *moody*ok dad
Dad:that’s my girl *opens the door*
Voice: *came from the sitting room*helllloooo
Dad: oh not again,isnt that michael’s voice?
Me: *smile and winked dad*yes it is *then we heard mum’s voice*
Mum:ewo michael is here.hw ws ur journey?*michael is the only son.dad turned and stared at me*
Dad:ur handiwork? *i just bent my head feeling guilty*

Dad: I just asked you a question Precious,who called Michael? *he took two steps forward*
Me: *couldn’t look into his eye so I looked away* daddy am sorry,I was worried
Dad: *looked deep at me,then turned and started walking to the door* get ready to answer all his questions
Me: *smile* yes daddy
Dad: *stopped but didn’t face me* I see,so u intentionally called him *there were smiles in his voice* you won’t kill me in these house *he started walking away*.
I could hear Mom’s conversation with Michael in the sitting room
Mom: you didn’t even bother calling to tell me you were coming
Michael: because I know u too well,you and daddy won’t let me come if I had told you both I was coming
Mom: I hope no problem?
Michael: I heard something,I had to rush down here to know if its true
Dad: all the way from Rivers to gossip in abuja *dad must had interrupted before he was noticed,I guess because I was in the room listening*
Michael: oh dad,good evening,wow I have missed you all big time
Dad: welcome,what made u abandoned your youth service just to be in abuja?
Mom: same question I was asking
Michael: dad what’s wrong,what happened,how did it happen,hope its not true? *by these time I was already at the door post of the sitting room watching, dad looked at mom and mom did same*
Dad: my son,go drop your bag first,eat then we talk
Michael: oooh daddy,talk to me,am eager,I just hope what Precious said is not true
Mom: Precious? *she exclaimed then turned to my room direction,our eyes met right at the door,I forced a smile out*
Dad: how information follows from these house is baffling most times,I asked your mother not to let any of you know for now but she ended up telling Juliet,I still pleaded with Juliet to keep it out from her siblings but she told Precious over the phone,now before I could talk to Precious she has already past the information to the lest person I wouldn’t want to hear it for now
Michael: ooh c’omon dad,am your first and only son for crying out loud,I deserve to be carried along
Dad: no *he walked to a couch and sat down* u don’t deserve to be carried along when the happening would distract you
Michael: *walks toward dad* dad,is it true?
Dad: *cold for some time before he finally answered* yes son
Michael: oh my God,how is it so?
Dad: sit son *he did and that was when he noticed me*
he stood up and rushed toward me
Michael: oh sweet Jesus,look at my angel,you are looking awesome
Me: stop flattering me jhoor
Michael: no am not,he must be taking real care of you,how is…*his eyes meant with that of mom who was surprisedly watching* em,you know na

Dad: you can’t deceive your parents,well Precious you ain’t too small to have a man but don’t keep it away from the family

Michael: hmmm *walks back to his seating position* so dad can we continue?
Dad told him everything just like he had told me
Michael: don’t worry dad,God isn’t asleep
Me: don’t you think Union bank as a whole should be sued?
Mom: I thought of that too
Michael: no no no let’s not waste money suing them,God knows best

just then Juliet came back from school
Juliet: heyyy,brother Mike,you are here.dad good evening,Mom good evening,sister Pee good evening
Michael: see my pride,wow,mummy is really taking good care of you o abi you have joined them?*he joked*
Juliet: yes nah,if u see the boy eh,he is just like you
Mom: quiet? if I see you with any boy eh that day I will skin you,thank God we are relocating soon
Juliet: ah mummy,am 16 nah,can’t I have…
Dad: have what??

Michael: baby girl,you are the finest in these house as far as am concerned
Me: why are you two acting like you are just seeing each other in a long time!

Juliet: I know mom,ooops, another house arrest *she started heading to the room*

That evening my self and my elder brother Michael decided to take a walk along the roads of abuja,maybe my last sight seeing in abuja,I had thought.
as we walked we talked about school life and other things
Michael: how are you finding things in school
Me: hmmm,don’t know actually but am managing,what about your service?
Michael: abegi leave 9ja and their service,the area where I am in Rivers they don’t pay well self
Me: I wonder why you choose rivers in the first instance
Michael: I just don’t know the devil that helped me in filling that form in form of me
Me: hahaha,just bear,you are almost done
Michael: that reminds me,what where you saying at home,ain’t you and Monday together again?
Me: yes
Michael: why?
Me: he is too demanding and a flirt of the highest order
Michael: demanding? hmmm,I think I understand now,well don’t blame him,you refused to summit na so he has to play around “body no be firewood”
Me: hmmm,men,always supporting evil.
Just then we saw cars lined up,other vehicles were giving them space,two escort vehicles in front and two at the back then two ranges in the middle,the two escort drove pass us but the third car stopped, Michael held my hands drawing me off the road very well,the cars following behind also stopped,the two in front on noticing that stopped too,a young man came down from the car,he walked toward us,I was thinking he wants to ask us for direction but he just stood mopping at me like a lost soul,my brother drew me to his back,the second range back wind scream rolled down and a man brought out his head
Man: son,what’s wrong? get in the car we are late already.
he took his last mop and turned,walking back to the car,I was already scared because armed soldiers came down too.
he got to the car,turned to look at me again
Man: c’onmon son
he entered and a soldier shut it,they rushed into their own vans and started driving off
Michael: isn’t that the president in that second car?
Me: yes,he is the one
Michael: and who was that goat showing off?
Me: if you ask me,nah who I go ask?
Michael: please let’s start going back home,who knows what might happen next.

The next morning I was ready to go back to school already forgetting what happened at the road side the previous day
Me: *tapping Juliet* wake up
Juliet: ooo aunty nah
Me: my friend open your eyes,its almost 7
Juliet: talk am listening nah * still acting sleepy*
Me: am going back to school now,please make sure none of my things are left behind
Juliet: I will leave some behind if you don’t bribe me
Me: you know I don’t have money yet
Juliet: hahaha * sitting up* poor sister,I was only pulling your legs
Me: better * Michael came in*
Michael: you are set already!
Me: yes.you know its a long journey ahead
Michael: yea
Juliet: good morning brother Mike

Juliet: no o,sister Precious was disturbing my sleep

Me: when are you going back?

Me: let me tell them am leaving * hurried out of the room with my bag,I got to my parents room and knocked*

Me: *opening the door* good morning dad,good morning mom

Mom: set to go?
Me: yes
Dad: check that locker over there * pointing* take the money in it
Me: *walked to the locker,opened it and took the money* thanks mom,thanks dad
Dad: call me once you get to school
Me: okay dad
Mom: don’t go and start following men o,remember the daughter of whom you are
Me: ah mummy,you should know me better
Mom: not at these stage,people change
Me: I haven’t mom
Mom: if you say so,don’t forget to call home once you need money and be careful of evil friends
Me: I will,byeee,see you guys in delta state soon
Mom: journey mercy my daughter
Me: *leaving the room* thanks mom
Dad: don’t forget,call home once you get to school
Me: okay dad
Michael and Juliet saw me off to the park.
I arrived Lagos late and was feeling so stressed up and weak, I managed calling home and making sure I speak with everyone home before hanging up,I slept off

by the next morning Jerry and James came to look for me,both are my course mates and they are funny twin brothers though James can be more timid and wicked than Jerry,they are just too identical, I only recognize who is Jerry and who is James with their ears,Jerry has a wider ear than that of James also Jerry likes being on afro while James prefers punk or low cut.
apart from their similar voice both are good dancers
Jerry: so Precious you are back and couldn’t call either of us
Precious: don’t be offended,I came back last night very weak and tired,you know how far the journey from abuja to lag is na

Me: boh I still feeling weak,if not for these test I would just forfeit today’s lecture

Both excused me,I rushed into the bathroom to take my bath,then dressed up,I locked my door

school was really stressful,every lecturer demanding for money for one thing or the other,it was as if we were beginning to pay tax to different course lecturers each week and I was really getting pissed off even with studies.
A month gone already,with exams close.
I was returning from lectures one evening when someone drove up to me
Man: hi pretty,am Richard * I just mopped at him* please may I know yours?
Me: sorry,I don’t talk to strangers
Richard: don’t you remember me?
Me: as you can see am just coming from lectures,so excuse me *stared walking away*
Richard: hey,just your name *he called out*

I just can’t place out why am pissed off,I opened
my lodge room and entered
Me: rubbish,imagine that guy stopping me just to
ask me ” isn’t my face familiar” vanilla no
I dropped my books on my bed,I was just
complaining to myself restlessly like one who
just lost a husband,maybe because I was
stressed up in class coupled with the fact that I
was seeing my period.
though my menstruation is never a painful one
but most times it makes me feel restlessly.
I walked back to the door and shut it,pulled off
and entered the bathroom to take my bath and
have a change of pad,after that I tried reading
but it didn’t work out so I laid down on my
tommy.

ever since I met Richard on campus my problems
increased,his disturbances where so much that
most times after lectures I would start looking
for other routs to my lodge,although those routs
seem far but I kept taking them till Richard found
out and started monitoring me closely.
that very day I had followed my usual rout not
knowing he was waiting,suddenly I heard the
voice say ” isn’t these a longer rout to wherever
you are going to?”
I turned to behold Richard,I was shocked
Me: why are you following me around, won’t you
concentrate on what brought you to school?
Richard: *walking closer* that’s what am
doing,concentrating on what brought me here

Me: rubbish *started walking away*

I didn’t bother turning nor stopping,does he know
my lodge that he should say ” see ya at your
lodge”.
well I was beginning to understand something,
most times when he speaks with me I feel
different and the times I spent trying to avoid
him drew him closer to my heart,yes I was
beginning to like him but I can’t bring myself to
loving a student who would miss classes just to
wait for a woman to finish hers,who knows how
many women in the campus he is dating or he
has dated.
not that he is that handsome but parades
himself like a rich dude,coming to disturb my life
everyday with different cars.
most times in the lecture hall I can’t just
concentrate just because am thinking on how to
dogge him after class.
I got to my lodge and met James and Jerry
seated outside waiting,on seeing me
James: na lectures wey we close since you just
dey come back?
Me: wetin happen,if na food una two come chop

Jerry: where you branch?
Me: that guy is still on my neck,I did not branch
anywhere just took a longer rout to avoid him
James: I told you to always wait for us after
classes but you won’t hear
Me: I can’t try that one,waiting for you two to
woo all department girls before we start going,no

Jerry: so its a guy that is making you run?
Me: I stubborn one at that
James: abeg wetin you cook,am hungry
Me: its now you are telling me why you are here
but I don’t have food
Jerry: don’t worry we will contribute

on turning my back I sighted Richard opening the
gate,quickly I disappeared to a corner before
James nor Jerry could ask me why but they are
good pretenders
Richard: * I was seeing them from my hide out *

James: eh you evening
Richard: please am looking for Precious?
James: Precious! Precious!! * turned to Jerry *

opened the gate,that was while I was coming

Richard: these is not fair guys * turned to my

here and wait till you come here me out.

He sat down on the suck-away close and waited
for about 15 minutes,then he stood up
Richard: ama come back * he walked off the
compound *
by the time I came out I just couldn’t control the
laughter,suddenly the gate opened again,I almost
ran to my hiding but with was James and Jerry
Jerry: omo you be flash o,how that guy take
know here
Me: I just don’t know
James: maybe he traced you
Mr: please let’s go to the market before it gets
dark..

That night when we came back from the market,I cooked the soup and made garri,after we were done eating the talk of Richard’s visit became the talk of the night,James and Jerry wouldn’t stop making mockery of us both till they got ready to leave,I put some of the soup into a cooler for them and they finally left.

for a week I didn’t see Richard, I felt I was beginning to miss him as the thought of him wouldn’t just stop coming to my mind. most times I find myself saying ” Richard where are you,did you leave because I his from you when you came to my lodge!,am really sorry”.
on the 9th day (at night) I received a call from a number I didn’t save
Me: hello,good evening
Voice: my beauty,its Richard * quickly I put the phone off my ear,staring at the number and asking myself ” did you ever give him your number,how did he get it then” I was just so flabbergasted, I put the phone back to my ear but he ended the call,about three seconds again he called back*
Richard: hello can you hear me now,I said its Richard
Me: how did you get my number
Richard: someone gave it to me
Me: who
Richard: be my friend and I will tell you
Me: * I wanted saying we are friends but I remembered my ego* you ain’t ashamed of yourself,you got my number from someone instead of from the owner,you ain’t man enough then
Richard: no its not like that,I traveled and wanted to communicate you but no way so I had to ask someone for it
Me: * forming anger * who?
Richard: friends?
Me: don’t call these number again in your life **hung up**
he called and called but I refused picking,though I would had love talking to him but I don’t want him to ever have that feeling that I missed him so he won’t start forming for me so I had to continue playing hard to get but most of the time I feel am being stupid when a mind would say ” who are you playing hard to get for,he didn’t woo you he only asked you to be his friend” once these happens I start feeling bad.
that night he called and called but I didn’t pick,I even had to switch off my phone.

The next day in the afternoon Richard drove to my lodge, I was seated outside,I wanted hiding on seeing him but his eyes were fixed on me,he walked up to me

Richard: umm,I came down here yesterday because I wanted to see you but obviously am not needed and am beginning to bug you so I decided to come to your lodge today and see you maybe for the last time
Me: * my heart skipped * what do you mean
Richard: tell me we can’t be friends and I will leave right now and never to disturb you * my heart beat increased,I never knew it would get to these,I just try as much as a could not to look at him * answer me,just say it and I would leave you alone * I said nothing * ok I take your silence for a yes,thanks, bye * he started walking away *
Me: wait * he stopped and turner * if you are leaving that’s probably because you want to because I didn’t give you any reply
Richard: were you gonna say no,we can be friends?
Me: * straight face * I don’t know
Richard: then please go out with me on a date
Me: now?
Richard: yes now
Me: * pretends * impossible
Richard: please
Me: No

Me: * quiet for some minute as he continued chipping in please * ok fine,but wait outside let me get dressed

I got dressed and he led me to his car parked outside,he opened the front door for me to enter then shut it,he ran over to his own side and entered droving off.

Precious: fake colour, pink all the way

Richard: because these restaurant is dressed in red and you say its nice

Me: nothing much about her * inhales and exhaled * like you already know am precious,Precious Oyege from a family of 3 children, a boy and two daughters,my the second but first girl

Me: delta
Richard: Oyege,does delta bear such?

Richard: oh forgive my manners, waiter,waiter,over here please * the waiter came * so if I didn’t call you you wouldn’t come to take my orders?
Waiter: sorry sir,I was coming to attend to you sir before you came
Richard: you Manuel please * the waiter stretched it to him * no,give it to her to make a choice
Me: * i was shy,not having anything in mind to order for i quickly said * no,am ok
Richard: don’t worry,just get Chinese spiced Chicken for two and a cream wine
Waiter: ok sir * immediately he left another brought two hot towels,I pretended like I actually knew how its being used,using side eyes to watch the way Richard used it to warm his hand and then return,I did same then the guy left *
Me: so introduce yourself
Richard: like you already know am Richard,from a family of two kids,a boy and a girl,from Ogun state
Me: so your father don’t have a name?
Richard: I don’t get? * the order was brought and placed on the table,it was really smoking showing its hot *
Me: * today nah today,how are my going to tear a whole full chicken without being childish * I mean your surname
Richard: oh,am Richard Williams,does that ring a bell? * he opened the wine and poured for the both of us *
Me: umm yes,the president nah but you ain’t * taking the wine he poured for me to drink at lest to use it in suspending the chicken till it gets cold *
Richard: * laughed at length * yes you are right am not the president, am his son,the President’s son
Me: * my hand seem to stop working for a while,I brought down the tumbler * the son? you are kidding me right? * he started cutting his chicken hot*
Richard: why should I be kidding you? aint eating?
Me: is these food * it just dropped from my mouth *
Richard: hahaha what is it called then?
Me: sorry,I mean are you using food to coverup
Richard: no
Me: hmmm,Precious,in the same table with the president son!! * I murmured to myself *
Richard: pardon,what did you say?
Me: me! no o nothing
Richard: ok,why not eat ?
Exactly the problem now, where do I start from in cutting these chicken,if I was to be home now in my lodge I can eat it any how I want,see people everywhere, if I f--k up now they would laugh thinking am bush.
Richard: is anything the matter?
Me: not at all
Richard: * stopped eating and looked straight into my eyes* Precious,I love you,I think its right I let you know.
oh God is faithful,these is an opportunity for me to leave to escape these chicken
Me: * forming anger,in a low voice * was that why you brought me here,I don’t blame you,so these is the friendship you said you wanted? sorry,wrong number * I stood up and started hurrying away,he stood to stop me but I was too fast for him,people turned watching so he stayed calm,maybe to avoid embarrassment,he quickly signaled the waiter to come,I don’t know what happened next because I went out,got a bike back to my lodge,I opened my door,threw my bag down and fell on the bed
Me: thank you lord for saving me from these embarrassment I would have given myself all in the name of chicken..

As I laid on bed reflecting on all that happened in the Restaurant between me and Richard,I couldn’t just stop myself from smiling.
Richard proposing to me was cool because I know pretty well that am naturing feelings for him but I think I shouldn’t just accept now,me accepting quickly to his proposal would make it look like I accepted because I found out he is the President’s son.
maybe I would had said yes to him or better still “let me think of it and give you a reply” if I hadn’t find out his true identity. A knock dropped on the door
Me: who is there,open up the door isn’t locked * the door opened and Richard surfaced,immediately I jumped up on my feet *
Richard: what’s wrong,why did you leave like that? * he asked innocently holding a branded bag,I didn’t answer,I just mopped * did I say something bad?
Me: what where you expecting? that I should jump on you because you are a first class citizen of these country and you proposed to me? no tell me !

The next morning I took my bath,got dressed and left to classes,I was I class when I realized that my monthly visitor was around,I was on easy,I was already feeling stained but thanks to God I was on black skirt,I just kept to my seat even after every lecture and with the rough plays of most of my course guys who were crushing on me. I noticed Jerry and James knew I wasn’t comfortable but didn’t ask

after their lectures I walked to the female toilet,brought out tissue paper from my bag,cleaned up myself and used some to serve as pad till I get home because I was really hoping to see Richard before going home.
on coming out of the toilet I saw Ella our assistant course rep

I looked around for Richard but didn’t see him,I don’t even know if he is a student or not,even if he is I don’t know his department.
for three days I did not see Richard,I tried calling but I couldn’t find the number he called me with
I kept expecting him to come to my lodge as usual but he never turned up.
the 5th day being Monday,after classes I saw Richard seated on his car,my heart skipped,I tried to being myself before walking up to him but before I got to him I saw Ella run to him and they embraced

I was so shocked and dumb founded,Ella of all people with Richard. I just turned and walked home not only disappointed but with pains in my heart.

I never realized I have gotten to love Richard these deep to the extent of feeling jealous seeing him with another woman,I never thought I could cry for love,why Ella of all people,she is the only girl in my department competing beauty with me,she is just naturally beautiful maybe that’s why am more jealous,maybe if it had been other department girl I wouldn’t mind.
I was so busy playing hard to get forgetting they are other girls who are even willing to woo him for them self but I was ready to apologise to him,I was ready to tell him how sorry I was.

I was still thinking when I slept off I was awoken early the next morning by James and Jerry that they were going so I stood up and opened up the door for them to leave then locked back,it was Sunday already.
I went back to sleep,I wokeup finally by seven thirty and went into the bathroom to prepare for church

I wasn’t settled within me but i was really struggling to be,the thought of Richard has eaten me up and it seem to be making me dull each day.
I got ready for church and left,it was a Catholic church,the mass already started before I got to church,it was the second mass.
after the first reading other members who came later were permitted inside,I didn’t take notice of people that joined my seat but I realized I was perceiving a familiar perfume, I just don’t know what turned my head to see people sitting with me,I saw him moping and smiling at me,by his side was seated Ella. immediately I felt my heartbeat increased
Richard: hi,is these your church also?
I wanted to reply but couldn’t,I found myself giving him a forced out smile as a reply then my eyes met with that of Ella but she said nothing,for the rest of the mass duration I can’t tell what happened all I knew was that we had offering and communion any other thing that happened aside that precious don’t know.
when the mass was over I stoop up with my bag containing just my bible and bulletin for the for the Sunday mass and lodge key and started walking out unnoticed but on getting outside I met Richard and Ella,I didn’t notice they had gone out of the church before me

I stayed indoors till five thirty then I went into the bath room to clean up,being a woman is really not easy,before six thirty I was done preparing but no sign of Richard nor Ella,I was peeping throw the window at interval hoping to see one of them surface again but no signs of either of them,by 7:00 I was already getting frustrated or had he changed his mind! I had to go outside the gate checking on him,I even stood there till 7:30pm but no sign of them,I was pissed up,I went back to my lodge and angrily shut the door,I don’t even have either of them contact to communicate them,I laid down on the bed and realized tears dropping from my eyes,I really wish to see Richard,my Richard.
I laid still on the bed till I slept off,it was an incoming call that woke me up,I checked the time and it was 9pm,the caller was Michael my elder brother. I picked up the call and we spoke over the phone for about ten minutes before saying goodnight to each other.
I sat up,took off my dress and wore my Skippy night wear,when into the bath room to wash of the makeups on my face

Ella: it better be o * I just stood at the corner watching the two of them displaying,she opened the remaining three cartons containing her basmati rice,a large quantity of already cut chicken while the last carton has a reasonable sized cake in it,I wonder if it was party but at these point the aroma of the food was all over my room*

After they left,Richard’s call came came in almost immediately,I knew it was his call,his numbers were already stored in my head,I felt my heartbeat increase.

ing to him he visited Nigeria then from his school in Paris and met her in their house,she was indeed beautiful and his mother * now the first lady * pushed him into dating her and he couldn’t refuse because the girl was indeed beautiful and he was already liking her at first sight,they started dating before he went back to school and that was about three months to the election * I can’t really recollect,he had said * everything was going on well till the girl visited him in Paris,she was just so lazy and over demanding,she likes giving orders but never takes none,he said while she was in his flat in Paris on her first visit she was a lazy a-s,on her second visit she revealed her other side which was nagging and jealousy,her own jealousy was off limit but he said he understood her actions then being that she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth with the rest of her two siblings,she was spoilt to the call by her parents being that she was also the only girl in three children so he controlled his temper toward her,then on her third visit she came along with the beast in her,maybe she was tired of dropping them along while coming to see him * he said * he said he cane back from classes that very day only to meet her lying like a dead wood in his bed,the worst part was that she didn’t inform him of her coming but that really didn’t piss him off,the part that pissed him off was that fact that his room was loitered with bottles of all sort of drinks and about three packets of cigar, he didn’t believe it was his woman so he left the room and walked in again hoping to see clearly thinking it was all an illusion but it wasn’t afterall,he quickly woke her up asking her firstly why she didn’t inform him she was coming,when she spoke to him her mouth sinks,she simply asked him if there was something he was hiding that would make her take permission before coming to see her man,at lest he understood that,that she mustn’t take permission before every of her visit so he pushed that aside and asked her who took the liquid contents in those bottles lying on the floor and the cigarettes scattered all over the room,she gave him a weird laughter and asked he how many people he had met in the room on his arrival or did he meet any body leaving the room on his arrival,at first he thought he was hallucinating but she repeated the questions again ” so you smoke and drink? ” he asked ” stop shouting as if its something wrong ” she had rebuked him ” no nah,I smoke and drink and you my girlfriend also smoke and drink,what kind of kids do you want us to bear when we get married? I don’t even smoke half of what you had smoked now in a day” he fired ” oh is it all about the cigar? don’t worry,I came with cocaine,I can strick to with with just a little of cigar smoking ” she smiley told him,he was shocked deep down ” you take cocaine? ” he asked again to be sure she meant it ” what’s the big deal,every normal girl does or you think am kidding? ” she dipped her hand into her bag and brought out a sealed white substance, he was shocked,as in re-shocked that was how they began having issues every day,with him trying to stop her from those stuff * he explained *I felt for him but was really shocked also to learn Richard smokes but I kept those question in my head for another day because I would to tell him face to face when he would be asking me out that I Precious Oyege can’t date a guy who smokes and drink till he gets drunk because I don’t want a man that would turn me to rainbow by adding another complexion to my skin with beating all in the name of marriage or relationship, anyway I know the kind of brother I have,Michael Augustine my brother won’t take such for any man who would try such with his precious kid sisters.
I asked him how long they had dated and what really brought the break up,he said they dated for about two years,he told me one certain period she set him up,leaving cocaine in his room when going back and immediately she left he was quick to notice it so he quickly flashed it in to the toilet thinking she might come back for it once she finds out she left it behind but instead as he was in the toilet flashing it his door bell rang,he thought she had come back for it so he quickly flashed it and went to answer the door after washing his hand only to see two policemen standing in his door post that they received an information that he is into drugs and would like to search his flat, he ushered them in and they turned the flat upside down but found nothing,but they insisted it was from a reliable source therefore they must run a medical test on him and as at that time he was writing his final year exams. he said the God that saved him was that when his girl came visiting that time,he didn’t touch her being that she had refused to stop drugs so when the test was carried out on him no trace was found in his system so they apologized and let him go.
he was angry with her and called to inform her he has received the message she left behind but she denied it.what finally brought an end to their two years relationship was that he caught her also injecting drugs into her system that very day in the toilet,then they were already in Nigeria though she came visiting him from school in Australia, he went to shoprite to get her some stuffs she demanded,on his return he couldn’t find her so he began searching for her only to bump into her in the closet injecting her self, he was d--n angry with her,he could have beaten her blue black if not for the position her father holds but he forgave her when she came begging being that it was the first time ever he was seeing her plead for her wrongs both knowing she had other plans,not less than an hour later he caught her at the dinning injecting his own meal,she probably was trying to drug him. that was what put an end to their two years relationship that they had been struggling with,she took the next available flight back to school in anger and ever since then they had heard nothing of each other although their parents are not aware of their break up except maybe she told them but he didn’t and no body had asked him so far.
his story really weakened me,well I sympathized with him and he said he has moved on.
well we called it a day and wished each other good nights before ending the call that was when I realized we have been on call for hours yet I didn’t feel it nor did I feel bored with any part of the call.
I wasn’t able to go to the dry cleaner again because it was already very late and the guy must had gone home.
I didn’t even bother asking Richard for the girl’s name and he didn’t tell me either.
I received a text message,opening it,it was Richard wishing me a good night sleep.

All I just wanted was for
the day to break announcing
tuesday ,I couldn’t just
imagine why some girls
would give themselves to smoking and drinking.

for classes,the days lectures

after the 8-10 lecture Ella
came to join me in my seat,
we exchanged greetings,she
apologized for not giving me a
call as promised and also begged
that I can to know her lodge after
classes,I willingly accepted
then she called Richard right
in my presence asking him to
come into the lecture hall,trust
Nigerians,all attention turned to
him immediately he got inside
the hall,most girls in my
department took to the notice

Really my mindset changed,I felt anew and really special,I found myself saying inwardly “at long last” I smiled to myself as Richard zoomed off playing ‘ No One Like You’ by psquare but I was waiting for was to gain privacy with Ella so she can start explaining how Richard located me to school because right now I am convinced she is behind everything.

Richard drove till we got to Ella’s lodge,he horned and the gate was opened by a security officer,that alone gave me the impression that it was an expensive hostel Ella was living in.
Richard drove in and the security guy waved us.
he parked and turned off the engine and we all got down,the compound was indeed a large one with expensive cars parked all over to show that those occupying the builds were children of wealthy parents.
Don’t get me wrong,I didn’t say rich,I said wealthy meaning their parents had passed the level of being rich,in the compound was a magnificent two story building,it was really wide
Ella: welcome to my lodge,how do you see here?

both of us walked to the stairs and started climbing leaving Richard behind because he was inspecting round the car but we later noticed him coming behind us,as we were climbing the last stairs

well I can speak French pretty well and understood the conversation they both had concerning the keys,in fact it was one of those language subjects I enjoyed very well back in my early school stage,we started treating the language right from primary four till my ss3 classes,in fact I wanted to register it as one of my waec subjects if not for my parents advice saying that since I was going to study Economic I shouldn’t register French as one of my subject as its not really needed,instead I should go with important subjects that was what made me drop it,I just said I don’t understand French knowing fully well that now she thinks I don’t understand the language she and Richard might always want to use it when they don’t want me to understand what they are saying.
on getting to Ella’s door post it was already opened by Richard who was already inside.
Inside was really wide,it was a big parlour,having two wide LG flat screens television with those expensive brown kind of colour chairs on a yellow rug designed with pink colours too,at a corner is a deep freezer beside a small dinning table then a water Despenser close,I was just speechless at the sight of things,I was wondering if these is just a school lodge or a life time apartment
Ella: yea yea,welcome to my small flat,its just a three bed room flat and a parlour

Yes,these was the perfect opportunity I was seeking for,just to have my privacy with Ella so I can get her to confess to me her role in all these so far,how Richard got to know I was schooling here after seeing me in abuja and why he has been in Lagos all these while and maybe tell her of Jerry’s feelings for her.

On Wednesday I spoke to Jerry about him talking to Ella about his feelings for her though I didn’t tell him I spoke to Ella already nor did I tell him of Ella’s say.
though he related his fears to me and I understood yet I made him understand that one thing must kill a man,I further encouraged him to talk to her ” she might be having same feelings for you and just hoping you come her way one day ” I had told him “but she isn’t giving me any green light” he defended.
I wonder why guys wait for a girl to give them green light before approaching her,they fail to understand every girl has her own way,maybe I gave those green lights to Richard or not but he wasn’t dependent on green light he was after what he wanted and right now that was all I wanted of Jerry.
He promised me to try his luck so I helped him plan it that these coming Saturday during Richard’s planned party was the best moment to talk to her and he welcomed the idea

It was Saturday already,I had slept at Ella’s lodge the previous day being Friday.
I noticed something about Richard,most times he would be having me romanced in his heart but saying it out to me that he wanted such was a problem to him,instead he would steal a quick kiss from me and am really planing on how to stop him of such attitude.
He had cuddled me all through the night making me sleep so deep that I didn’t notice when he left that very morning,it was Ella’s loud music that even woke me up.
I walked up to her in the sitting room and we greeted.
Ella: where did Richard drive to these morning?
Me: I don’t know o,I was deep asleep because I felt so safe in his arms not knowing he has even left me alone on bed
Ella: hahaha,sleepy head
Me: what are we going to do these morning?
Ella: we cook,I want us to make vegetable soup
Me: ok let me go brush,then I come join you in the kitchen
Ella: that would be nice,at lest let’s eat your food,you already ate my brother’s cook first

I went inside to brush and wash my face before coming out.
we both went into the kitchen to cook. after making the soup we made semovita by the time we were done Richard was still not back.
I went to the room to take my shower since it was already 10 am and Ella did same.
she met me in her sitting room watching Africa magic and she joined

Me: no take yours,am waiting for Richard

We talked and talked till we began getting bored with talks because I was really worried about Richard,I even slept off in one of the couch,I was later awoken by Richard’s voice

Ella: busy with what? you shouldn’t be saying sorry to me,you should be saying that to whom you left worried,you know me na,if you like use your two legs and trek from Lagos here to Abuja I won’t be worried because I know you would definitely show up home even if the journey takes you a week,so you should be worried about those who are worried about you because am not,just take a look at the time,you left early in the morning only to return by these time,2pm,we haven’t even eating waiting for you *she flamed*
Richard: *turns to me* baby please am sorry.
I just took off his hands from my laps and walked back into the room,I could hear Ella say “is these how you want to show her the love you promised? am beginning to regret helping you get her and if you make me do it won’t be funny” and I could hear Richard plead with her from the room
Richard: Ella am sorry,you of all people should understand me better,you have been the only one who tends to understand me even more than my parents,why are you doing these now
Ella: Richard you got her worried,so worried,what if..*I couldn’t hear what she said there because she lowed her voice when saying it then raised her voice again* that’s bad,if my guy in fact any guy treat me the way you just treated her today I would take it the guy has no conscience
Richard: *in a weird voice like he wanted to cry* I only meant giving her a surprise
Ella: then you should have told me your sister about it,I would have known how best to defend your absence by the way am a woman,I should be able to help you with ideas of what a woman’s world is all about for you to know the best surprise you can give or get her,look now she is angry with you

Ella: rubbish,you should get up here and go plead with your girl and not me okay! * everywhere was quiet for a while till the room’s door cracked opened and Richard surfaced
Richard:baby please am sorry * sitting on the bed I was already lying * believe me I didn’t mean to up set you,why would I do such,k was only looking for a better way to put smiles on your face.
I just turned my face,facing the walls to avoid seeing his face
Richard: you want me to cry? please forgive me
Me: Richard please just leave me okay,I hate these character of yours
Richard: now that I have known I will put it off

Richard: thanks so much,look my phone in the drawer,I forgot it that’s why I never called

he held me giving me those passionate am sorry look and before I could say any word our tongues cling together in a passionate kiss,I was already lost in the kiss before someone brought me back,it was Ella who had been standing in the room unnoticed that just cleared her throat to make us feel her presence,we disengaged our tongues and turned to her

Ella: quiet,so these was why you rushed home,answer me jhoor,how far with the party?
Richard: everything is place
Ella: ok,am so so hungry,please get up the both of you let’s go eat
Richard: what’s on ground?
Me: vegetable soup and semovita
Richard: ah,please let’s go and eat I think am hungry too
Ella: you think she cooked it alone ?
Richard: no,I know you both did and that soup is really gonna be the best I have ever tasted

When we got to the party venue around 8pm I was surprised with the decoration of the Garden,it looks so funny but amazing,it was decorated both chairs and tables with the combination of pink and red and funny enough Richard had insisted at home that I wear the pink gown and hills he got me on tuesday matched with a red bag,I just couldn’t refuse him after all pink was my best and I knee red was his best but it really now I understood better,he was dressed in simple rich polo *the polo is red crossed with pink colour* and red trousers matched with his black all stars while Ella was dressed just like I was dressed with same bag,the only difference was that her own pink gown has a long white strip at the front.
we matched in and sat down in the hall,much students were already there including James and Jerry,i was amazed,they had same polo as Richard’s,Jerry was on blue trousers while James on black,the polo was really amazing,it matched their dressing so perfectly,I noticed their names at the black of the polo’s top while at the down was the inscription “Precious Day,Love Got Born Again” that was when I turned Richard to look at his back,I didn’t notice it back home,his had his name on it but it wasn’t just Richard it was written “RichardPresh” I just busted out with laughter to the surprise of everyone around
James: why the laughter?

Me: *trying to control my laughter* sorry,forgive my manners,just that the inscription on the polo is funny,love gets born again,hahaha.
I was laughing so hard that the rest around joined in the laughter including Richard,you know that kind of laughter na.
it was really going to be a fun filled night with what am seeing,everyone on different colours of trousers but same polo with their names at the back

Richard: yea that’s what I want,I want back to school after dropping you both at home to give them the dress code
Ella: dress code? is there any dress code here other than these colour riot some people here are putting on
Richard: the dress code is be on trousers,the colour of the trousers everyone here is putting on is his/her best colour

My self and James just sat on the table hosting and laughing,most of our course mates would just come around to say hi,soon Jerry and Ella came back to join us,I used eyes in communicating with jerry to know the out come,at lest he gave me a positive answer,I smiled.

M.C: hello ladies and men to gen, I would like you all to stood on our feet,if you still like stand on your own feet,yes like I was saying today is a special day but its sweetness won’t be complete if we don’t commit it into God’s able hands…eh close your eyes as we pray if you don’t close your eyes as we pray may the rice and stew they would share here pass you by

A girl walked to our table and gave me my own cake,she gave Ella too,after the sharing Richard take up to the stage again
Richard: I believe all the ladies have their cakes now,now carefully get it into your mouth and chew with caution *at these stages ladies were throwing the cakes into their mouth,my heartbeat increased,I just held my own cake,afraid of chewing it,afraid of being disappointed*
Ella ate hers,James and Jerry seem enjoying the fun,in short the men were enjoying the fun,like about five minutes and no one identified finding whatsoever it was that was in the cake I felt I should chew mine,but as I was about getting it into my mouth a girl screamed “aaaah,I found it” my heart seen to fail me immediately but soon it was announced to be a false alert,oh God you just can’t tell the distance my heart had travelled to and had to travel back
Ella: Precious eat yours na.
I throw the whole cake into my mouth and chewed,as I was chewing I felt something, I paused and stared at Ella
Ella: what? did you see it? say something.
I carefully spat everything back to my palm and right there is a diamond ring half covered by cakes,Ella shouted
Ella: yyyyyyeeeeeeeess,over here,she found it,its a ring,Precious found it.
all attention diverted to our table,before I could say the word “jack” Richard was at our table,he took my hand smiling as everyone clapped and took me up to the stage,I couldn’t express how I felt at the moment,he went down on his kneels with everyone’s attention fixed on us,I felt so shy,he took the ring from me while he knelt still on the ground
Richard: its funny how life goes,years ago I was unconscious about life but as I grow I realized something was lost in me,finding you was like having life afresh and I don’t want to let go of these pretty angel I behold in person of you,dear I have spent sleepless nights in your love,I know how it feels,the headache that comes along with missing you so dear,I wouldn’t want my son to feel same for your daughter,get the headaches I have got so I ask you sweetheart,please can we make them brother and sister?
At these point my hands were trying to cover my wide opened mouth,I managed to answer

at could hear Ella screaming “wwwwoooo,yes,yea baby” and everyone applauding as he got the ring into my finger and it entered with easy,he stood up and kissed me so deep.

He took me right to cloud 9 at the moment,though I felt so shy after we kissed but I was the happiness woman the world had ever know at the moment,it was indeed a remarkable day in my life,the happiness day I ever spent on earth.
As the music played and we danced on stage,I felt there was non like Richard,each moment I had stole to look into his eyes brings me laughter even without a reason as we danced,I had suddenly forgotten I was under pressure few minutes ago when Richard put up that expensive prank play about the cake.
Sincerely speaking,as we danced many thoughts ran through my mind,Ella came to join us on the dance floor and other present students followed,she seem so happy but I don’t think its half the happiness I felt.
Jerry came to take her hands in dance but she first resisted but I trust Jerry,I was lost in my own illusion,by the time I gained consciousness I saw both dancing too.
I sighted James still sited but with a pretty damsel,I could see both laughing,before I knew it Richard had lifted me into his arms and everyone shouted,quickly I covered my face with my hands trying to bury my head on his chest out of shyness.
A guy taped Richard from behind,he turned,on seeing him he put me down and excused himself from me,Ella quickly came to drag me to her side where she was dancing with Jerry,it was as if she had been waiting for Richard to excuse himself from me
Jerry: congrats on your engagement Precious * he shouted as we danced *
Me: thank you.
I searched for Richard trailing him from the direction he took but the crowd was much,if not that the lights were bright enough I would have seen him,I could see him talking to the guy,soon he collected something from him and asked him then he started searching his way back through the crowed.
He took the microphone and the DJ lowered his music
Richard: surprise! surprise!! surprise!!! * attentions turned to him * surprise for my woman,please can you all follow us outside as I lead my woman * he dropped the microphone and walked to me,holding my hands and leading me out of the big hall while the rest followed *
We got out side,he lead us to a black new car out side
Richard: these red spider here,sweedy, is a token of my love to you *handing me over the key*
Some were applauding while some exclaiming,a girl even shouted from the crowd ” Richard love me too nah* in my own part I was speechless standing with the car key,Ella urged me to open the car,and I did,inside was indeed marvelling, I just didn’t shout,not because I don’t want to shout but because I was so lost of words,I could thousand hands admiring the car
Me: oh sweetheart thanks a lot * I managed to say at last
Richard: c’mon baby let’s go dance * he said coming to take my hands * I shut the door then we all went back to the dance floor.
I danced till I got tired of dancing so I took to a table and Richard joined me ordering for what we ate.
Even with the joy and gladness in my heart and I wishing the night never comes to an end I still felt I needed to sleep but I just font want to leave.
As at 3am Ella was also very tired so she urged Richard to take us home,he said ok and was like Ella should ride with me in my new ride home while he drives alone but I just had to tell him the gospel truth that I can’t drive,he made fun of me and then ask Ella to drive my new ride with me.
Ella asked me to seat comfortably at the back as the madam of the car but I refused and sat with her at the front.
Well I really felt bad inward that I wasn’t the first to drive my first ever car on earth because I couldn’t drive so as Ella drove I pleaded with her to start teaching me how to drive as soon as possible and she promised me that we start in the evening of that Sunday,she drove behind Richard.
Before we got to the lodge *Ellas* i was already asleep though it was a very short drive but I was really tired probably that made me sleep off. I only woke up when Richard was trying to back me,seeing that I was already at his back I closed my eyes and resumed the sleep from where I had stopped earlier.

Ella: dear I really need the sleep,that guy Jerry was just drawing me around all in the name of dance
Me: hahaha,funny you,so how did it go,did he ask you out?

That week classes seem to be boring since its just revision most times,I don’t fail to do Richard’s assignment everyday since he left and he has always replied me,I had the opportunity speaking to his kid sister Sharon on Thursday and she sounded so cool and interesting just like Ella but I really don’t think any other person can match the spot in my heart Ella has matched,she is indeed a sister,a big sister because she is 9months older than me.

Monday is a student of computer science,we use to be lovers back then when I got into university of Lagos newly,he was a 200 level student then who helped me run all my school processing then and was cold headed,he is handsome too and brilliant but the rate at which he changed still surprises me each time his thought comes to my mind.

Everything went down well with us all,no sign of Monday again,we still started our exams smoothly,thank God Richardpresh wasn’t around,if he was to be around with his everyday surprises I wasn’t sure I would have been able to concentrate on my studies.Thanks to the four of us,we read together every now and then,i.e myself,Ella,James and Jerry.
Jerry and Ella’s love grew so well too though most times I get to pity James and stay around with him just to make sure he doesn’t feel left out.
Two weeks to our examination and we were so cool with each other,as for my self and Richardpresh, am still doing his assignment always so we really don’t feel the distant between us.
a week to the end of our exams he informed me that his parents would want to meet me and these got Mr really scared and I didn’t hide my fears away from him but he told me there was nothing to fear.
My dad also called to know when our exams was to finish and I lied we have two weeks left and he reminded me to get back as soon as possible and as at then Michael was done with his service and was in delta with them.
My exams didn’t stop me from my driving lessons and being that the guy to get me the learner’s permit had done that I was able to start driving to school in my car just a week to the end of my exams while Ella was enjoying hers with her loverboy Jerry.
Two days to our exams I called Richard to know if he was still gonna come to school to see me but he said he couldn’t make it but I shouldn’t worry that he would surely be in delta to see me and msybd from there we can drove down to see his parents.

Three days to the day I was to travel to delta I pleaded with Michael to come down to my school so he can drive me home in my car since i was still learning and being a loving brother he came the next day.

I fell weakly to the bed,trying to think out something reasonable but couldn’t,I decided to go plead with Ella,like seriously I wasn’t meaning to hurt Ella’s feeling,I was even thinking I was polite enough with her.
On opening the door of the room she had gone into I met heard her sobbing,she was just on her white towel,just the way she was while leaving the room because then she was creaming her body

I was glad to be home,with the semester ending well.
Richard called to know if we had gotten home and I said yes,he said now he could relax his mind and I should also be expecting him in a week’s time.
I was so happy with the news, I never thought anything could go wrong..

Very thing kept going smoothly in delta,before I forget Ella called me that she would be travelling back to abuja *that was 4 days after we travelled* but firstly she would come over to delta to meet her brother so both can go see the governor,she said she would come over to our side with her brother after they must had seen the governor,I was so happy and asked her to come quickly,I had missed Ella so much already.
I also informed Richard that my dad wants to have words with him,he said when he comes the following week he would see father meanwhile Michael took over my driving lessons.
Most times the three of us would drive into asaba just for fun.
My father never disturbed me about Richard again either did my mother trying reminding me like she would have always done before.
Six days after I had a talk with Ella over the phone she called asking for my house address that she was in delta already with her brother and would like to come over to see myself and Michael, I wasted no time in sending the house address to her and about 3 hours later a jeep drove into our compound,Ella and a young handsome guy came down from the jeep,I rushed to hug her. I really thank God who got to abuja safely because at a time I got so scared of the speed.

The house became a little hot for the days I spent there,Mr President seem to be so fond of me but the Firstlady was something else,maybe she thought I was advising Richard against apologizing to Clara and her family.
I didn’t wast time relating everything to Ella when she came around but she said I shouldn’t mind the first lady that she’s always like that and she asked me never to advice Richard on apologizing to the isah family but it seem everyday I spent at the villa makes the cloud unleash hotter suns so I told Richard I wanted to go back but he refused,instead he took me to Ella’s house to stay,I was well accepted there by her parents who promised talking sense in to the first lady.
I felt at home again till one day I received a text message from an unknown number threatening to kill me if I don’t leave Richard for her,I got so scared and regretted ever coming to the villa to see Richard’s family.
I showed Ella the text,she deleted it and told me not to worry,that it was Clara threatening but I shouldn’t mind her,I got alarmed,how has she gotten my number.
Since Ella’s dad was out for business Ella insisted we tell her mom once she comes back from work.
then I was just him with Ella and Jetty,I haven’t met with her other brother yet because I learnt he was out of the country.
When Ella’s mum got back we reported to her,she got so angry with Ella for deleting the text
Ella’s Mum: I would have shown it to the president so that if anything happens to her Clara would be held responsible.
by these time I was so scared so I called Richard and informed him of the text but he just assured me it was an Pty threat from a drugger
All these while I never tried informing my parents,not even Michael because I know once my father hear of it the next thing would be I should put a stop to my relationship with Richard and no one can make him turn his mind again not even my mother nor Michael my brother.
I never thought there could be more to everything than I had thought….

My stay in Abuja became so uncomfortable because the threat on my life and everyone dear to me became constant.
I told Richard of my intentions to go back to Delta since I had spent a reason time in abuja and being that school would soon resume,Richard asked me to spend one more week in Abuja but I insisted so he stopped objecting,I decided to inform Ella’s family about my plans to go back and they welcomed it,so i made up my mind to leave abuja in two days time.
Ella’s mom advised me to inform my parents about the happenings which i promised her to tell them but really I had no intentions of letting them know about it.
When i got ready to leave the second day I was really surprised with the gifts Ella’s parents showered me with.
Ella’s Mum: my daughter I wish you wouldn’t leave us
Me: ah mama i wish same but you know the condition of things
Ella’s Mum: yes my daughter,just be careful now,you really have to put your head down now and be careful with people you associate with now,please my daughter avoid night movements now
Me: thank you ma,am really grateful
Ella’s Mum: those wrappers are for you mother,tell her I would be meeting with them soon once i take my leaves at work
Me: okay ma
Ella’s Dad: my dear you have heard what my wife said to you,she has said it all but I would like you to know that as long as Richard still loves and want you in his life and you do feel same,i,myself and me would solidly stand behind you

Ella’s Dad: Richard make sure you come back here once you drop Precious at the park,thanks are getting out of hand and the earlier we start tackling it the better for us all

I got to Delta and shared every gifts given to me in abuja by Ella’s parents including the once Richard give me when he dropped me off at the park. My parents called Ella’s parents to thank them,men must be men,can you imagine what my father said over the phone ” you people shouldn’t have bother of the gifts ” *lol*. the still spoke with the president who was surprised hearing I was in delta already without informing him,he asked me to call him later with my line so he would have my line should he by any means have any reason to call me.
Everything went back to normal in Delta,I never told my parents about the threat of a thing from Clara Richard’s ex,i found it not necessary after all I don’t even know her one on one,I don’t know if she’s black or fair,tall or short or even fat or slim so I really take it to be empty threats though at times when I remember those threats my heart skips.
I wouldn’t want to waste much of your time telling you these life experience of mine bit by bit although every part of it would surely interest you but let’s save time.
school resumed its first semester just a month to Christmas,but before that our results were out and i did pretty well and had no carryover on any of my course,my G.P was so impressive,my mom wanted me to stay till next year before returning to school but my father insisted on my going back
Dad: you should know you have come a long way to start dragging yourself back,you are now in 400 level,play less and read more,prepare yourself,you would return to school next week Monday.
Well I started preparing my things,my father is right after all,you know these lectures,they can be very mean,seeing that students ain’t much in school they might just start giving test anyhow.
I put a call across to Ella and informed her that I would be returning to school on Monday because my father insisted,she also told me she would be returning on Monday too,that her dad had insisted too.

All these while my communication with Richard had become very tight even much more than before,we talk over the phone nearly every hour,even text messaging had become so common among us both.
I travelled down to school to resume classes,before I even got Lagos Ella was already in school,sorry to say but its just the simple truth that I never thought of Jerry and James all these while,I only remembered them on getting into school again.
Ella told me she came on flight and from the way we welcomed each other one could easily tell we missed each other a lot.
Ella and Jerry got back together again after he apologised and we all celebrated our Christmas in school,Richard was present too. funny enough we had three test on the 24th of December.
University of Lagos became Richard’s second home.
February 26th,after Richard returned back to aso rock on the 25th same month because he came on the 12th regarding to th14 February day which is valentine.
it was indeed a great day,it was just myself,Richpresh, Ella,Jerry and James celebrating,we turned the city multiple colours that valentine night. in fact that night I almost forgot I came to Lagos for the sake of school.
On the 15th Richard told me he had related Michael’s job issue to Ella’s dad and as God may have it during the evening of that same day Michael called informing me he has been offered a job in one of the oil company in PH,I was so happy for him.
As i was saying, on the 26th after Richard left on the 25th I received a message from an unknown number,it reads ” you must be very stubborn, I asked you to keep away from Richard but you refused,don’t blame me on the misfortune you have laid down for yourself”
immediately after reading I began sweating unnecessarily, I called Ella to come read the text,she did and got angry with the text,she tried calling the number but it was invalid number,she forwarded the text to her dad and Richard then she took her phone dialing her father’s number,as she was on phone with her dad relating things to him my phone began ringing,it was my dad calling,I took in the call but instead of hearing my dad’s voice it was Juliet’s voice,she was seriously crying over the phone
Juliet: sister Precious,sister Precious
Me: I can hear you Juliet,stop crying please and answer me,talk to me
Juliet: please come home,some unknown gun men just adopted mom and dad
Me: eh? what did you say,adopted who,talk to me,mom and dad kidnapped? how,where,when?
Juliet: just now,please come home
Me: *the sweats increased* just stop crying,I am coming down to delta as soon as possible now..

As soon as I ended the call,all that could escape my mouth was
Me: Ella! Ella! Ella my parents,my parents oh Ella *tears welled down*
Ella: oh my God,who adopted them,why,how did these happen
Me: Ellah ooooh,I don’t know I don’t know,my parents had been kidnapped
Ella: * get her phone back on her ear * dad did you hear that,Precious parents had just been kidnapped * handing the phone over to me * take my dad wants to speak with you
Me: *i collected the phone from her* hello sir
Ella’s Dad: how did these happen
Me: *crying* sir I don’t know,my sister just called to inform me

Ella’s Dad: stop crying,put yourself together, am assuring you nothing would happen to your parents okay, let me put a cross to the president immediately, an immediate action needs to be taken
Me: thank you sir * I answered all in tears,then hung up *
Ella: i swear to God I will kill Clara,I will kill her and go to jail for it that is if I would actually go to prison
Me: I need to be in delta now * immediately my phone started ringing,it was Richard’s dad,I took in the call” hello sir
Mr.President: I need you to come down to the villa now
Me: sir,my parents had just been kidnapped, I need to be in delta
Mr.President: I know,just come down to abuja immediately, these is regarding to your parents adoption,take the next flight to abuja,I will be waiting for you, I will book you a flight now so get down to the airport

Ella: what did he say?
Me: I should be in abuja now* phone rings,it was Michael* hello Michael * still in tears *
Michael: what’s happening to your line,I have been calling your line but busy,Juliet just called me that mom and dad has been kidnapped
Me: she told me so too
Michael: stop crying,am on my way to delta now so meet me there

Michael: I will call you later,let me attend to something * hung up *
Ella: oh God,what’s happening
Me: my parents Ella,please nothing should happen to them * phone rings,its Richard *
Richard: hello sweedy,I just saw the text message you forwarded to me
Me: Richard my parents had been kidnapped
Richard: what? by who,why,where, when?
Me: I don’t know *cried out*
Richard: stop crying,don’t worry I would do everything to make sure your parents ain’t harmed
Me: thank you
Richard: don’t thank me,all these are happening because of me,just calm down I am taking the next available flight down to Lagos
Me: its not necessary, your father asked me already to take the next available flight down to abuja
Richard: come quickly then,I will be waiting for…*Ella snatched the phone from me*
Ella: your parents life is in danger and you are busy with call,look I have packed your bag,take it let me drop you off at the airport
I didn’t respond to anything she said again,I just picked up my bag without even a thank you,I was lost in thought of my parents well being,I thought of where they are presently,what are they doing to them now,how is Juliet fairing,who is consoling her,hope Michael is in delta already… all these thought occupied my brain, I didn’t even know when we got to the airport
Ella: Precious we are at the airport already,get down
Me: *that was when I regained consciousness* oh sorry,thanks

I got down and we entered the airport,Ella helped me check if the president had booked me and all other stuff,I just wasn’t in my sane state of mind to go about it with her.
Soon my flight left Lagos and before 55 minutes we were in Abuja’s airport,I was surprised seeing Richard at the airport awaiting my arrival,he welcomed me and lead me to where he had parked his car,I noticed armed soldiers following us,I guess they were Richard’s security but I never bothered asking,I had enough to think about.
I got into the car and Richard drove off with the securities driving behind us,all Richard said to me in the car I didn’t even hear a single thing,so sorry to say these but I wasn’t even sure some one was talking,all my mind set were based on my parents present condition,I regret not telling them about everything at first,maybe they would have been more careful.
We drove into the villa and I came down,we walked into the living room and met the president standing and looking pissed up,immediately he saw us he signaled the men guiding him to go out,then turned to Richard
Mr.President: Richard,go to my brother,tell him I want to see him immediately,if he is not home,wait till he returns,you must come back here with him
Richard: yes dad,baby am coming *he went off*

Mr Williams,President of our time,it is very nice having you in my palms now,I have the parents of your son’s fiancé and the video records of your past and present crimes just waiting to go public once you do otherwise to my instructions. go through your whatsapp messages to watch just but few of you past crime videos,and am assuring you I have more of it then you would ever imagine,here is a quick one,you must send Precious,the so called girlfriend of your son Richard outside the walls of these country and never for her to return, only then would I release her parents and keep your dirty secret safe but if you do anything contrary to my order,first I will kill both parents and distribute these videos to every news house in these country and international and I shouldn’t be telling you what the consequences of these would be. you have 24hours to send her out of these country and never for her to return or await the consequences. my eyes are fixed on you,its either you play safe or risk the game and face the consequences.
After reading I was shivering as I handed back his phone to him,I wanted to ask questions but couldn’t, him his self was looking displeased and so uncomfortable
Mr.President: *in a shallow voice* I won’t force you in your decision but what is your decision in these
Me: *with a heavy heart* sir,I love Richard so much that I don’t know if I can leave a minute without him but I must save my parents lives,they are all I have got in these whole world as parents,they can’t die for what they know not,so I would leave for the safety of my family,if it so pleases God my self and Richard would surely end up together
Mr.President: am touched,I swear with the spirits guiding these country that I will ensure your parents safety,I would take care of them till you return and my son Richard would wait for you,its a golden promise I make you
Me: sir my parents
Mr.President: *walked close,holding up my both hands* election is few months away,I promise you that once am elected and sworn in for a second tenor I would send back for you,I swear these on my staff of office *he let go of my hands,I just couldn’t stop crying*
Me: sir please can I make a last request?
Mr.President: go on
Me: can I have few hours with Richard at lest for the very last time,I promise I won’t tell him anything we have discussed nor make him suspect
Mr.President: as long as you keep your promise you can have the whole night with him

Mr.President: I know you are in your final year in school,I would make make sure you get the best result ever,am working toward that already so before today runs out you would get it *walked back to his seating position,opened his briefcase and brought out a visa* these is your visa,you passport and the rest of your travelling documents are ready,by morning tomo you leave for England till I send back for you,not to worry,a good job awaits you over there.

Richard came back in the evening but without Ella’s dad,he said he is in calabar on a business deal
Mr.President: that’s okay,I need you to take Precious to your room,stay with her and comfort her,by morning tomorrow she would be travelling

He took me to his room trying all he could to comfort me,i learnt Sharon had travelled out with the first lady.
I couldn’t eat,I couldn’t tell Richard I was leaving,the thought of not getting to see my parents again made me cry out loud but Richard couldn’t understand, he only comforted me that my parents would be fine

I left the villa with my bag but the president gave me a new sim and took my old sims.
I got a taxi outside the villa to the airport but got kidnapped on the way by some unknown gun men.
I was blind folded and taken to a building somewhere in abuja,I was made to seat on a chair while I begged for my life
Voice: interesting,the pretty Precious is here,the gold digger
Me: please,what have I done
Voice: have you seen Clara before?
Me: no ma,please spare me
Voice: take off her blind fold
The blind fold was removed,it was an uncompleted building, I saw armed men standing all over,the girl talking to me was backing me,she was smoking,I got real scared and continuously begged for my life,she turned and faced me puffing out smoke from her mouth
Voice: so you don’t know me,amm Clara,the girl you decided to mess around with,but you messed with the wrong girl,you can’t steal my man and go scot free,never
Me: please,spare my life,I didn’t steal Richard from you,I was leaving the country away from Richard

They roughly pulled me up leading me out of the building not listening to my plead,am not even sure they saw my tears,those men were wicked to the core.
